A prominent Chicago attorney approached Lauren with a clear vision: a sleek, modern, and tech-forward office that felt nothing like a conventional law firm. He sought a space that balanced cutting-edge design with individuality.
Early in the process, Lauren discovered a shared passion for Mid-Century Modern design. She sourced authentic vintage pieces from local antique dealers and had them meticulously restored, reupholstered, and reimagined to align with the contemporary aesthetic of the office. The interplay between refined antique furnishings and sleek materials like metal and glass created a rich visual tension—resulting in a space that is bold, unexpected, and elegant yet far from traditional.
The client also requested expansive, private window offices for each partner, while ensuring the core of the space remained open and inviting for collaboration. A custom curved sectional sofa anchors the café area, complete with integrated walnut end tables and bookshelves—encouraging comfort, connection, and creativity.
A bespoke 140” conference table in figured walnut was designed to serve as the centerpiece of the meeting space, paired with vintage Zographos chairs that were thoughtfully reupholstered for a modern finish. Artwork by Barbara Coburn and Robert Medsker brings color and personality to the space, rounding out an office that is as sophisticated as it is distinctive.
The final product is strikingly modern yet enriched with elegant individuality through thoughtfully curated antiques and bespoke details.
