Grandeur in the Gold Coast

Grandeur in the Gold Coast
When a creative director at a global advertising agency entrusted Lauren with the renovation of his vintage Gold Coast duplex, she drew upon her deep architectural expertise and expansive design sensibility to deliver a result that exceeded all expectations. Housed within a Gothic Revival building, the residence featured remarkable original elements that required careful restoration, including leaded glass and iron floor-to-ceiling windows, an iron staircase, and an original plaster ceiling.
Throughout the renovation, Lauren thoughtfully reimagined the remainder of the apartment, ensuring a seamless dialogue between historic architecture and contemporary design. Every part was made with intention, preserving the soul of the space while elevating its functionality and refinement.
The black-and-white palette was selected to serve as a quiet backdrop for the architecture, echoed by striking mixed-media artwork by Barbara Coburn. The all-marble kitchen was meticulously designed to maximize both scale and light- tailored for an exceptionally tall client, featuring a coffered ceiling to visually heighten the space and open shelving that allows daylight to glow uninterrupted throughout.
The result is a sophisticated balance of heritage and modernity—where timeless craftsmanship and thoughtful design coexist in effortless harmony and luxury.
