Smooth Sailing

This exceptional River Forest residence was a ground-up, new construction project for a young family with a passion for modern architecture and a deep love of sailing.

In collaboration with the talented teams at Michael Hershenson Architects and Tartan Builders, we were entrusted with bringing their vision of contemporary elegance to life.

The interiors reflect a curated balance of sleek sophistication and warm livability. In the kitchen, custom cabinetry painted in a serene nautical blue pays homage to the family’s sailing roots—a subtle yet striking statement that plays beautifully against the light white oak flooring and clean, sleek architectural lines throughout the home.

Among the many bespoke elements, the custom sculptural staircase, designed by myself and my team, stands out as a true centerpiece—equal parts function and art. Other highlights include a dramatic floor-to-ceiling fireplace, a stunning glass-enclosed office, and a four-season room that invites the outdoors inside year-round while creating the perfect backdrop for family time and the making of memories that will last a lifetime.

This was a deeply collaborative and creatively fulfilling project.  We’re honored to have helped create such a special home that so thoughtfully reflects our clients' style, passions, and way of life.
